Capsule Geology

The Susie Q placer lease is located along the east bank of the Fraser River, 1 kilometre northwest of McAllister, on the B.C. Railway track.

Bedrock geology is inferred to be volcanic rocks of the Eocene to Oligocene Endako Group. Most of the area underlain by the placer lease is a flat bench, from 1.5 to 6 metres above the level of the Fraser River (depending upon the water level). This bench is cut along the west side of the river. Along this cut, there is from 0.6 to as much as 2.4 metres of coarse silt to fine sand, underlain by a mixture of gravel and sand, which appears similar to the river gravel just to the west. Most placer gold occurs within the top 0.6 metre of the gravel, which underlies the silt. Gold particles of up to l by 0.5 millimetre occur within this zone.

There is no visual evidence of previous work, with the exception of backhoe pits, which were dug in 1982 or 1983, and during 1990.
